No disrespect to Michael Jackson but I guess this goes to show that a man is just a man, nutn more, nutn less. The sad reality of it all is that with all his wealth and riches and fame, what has it gotten him?? Despite his amazing prowess and ability, his huge popularity, did he look like a happy person to you??
Think about it, how many of these superstars that papparazzi give absolutely no privacy to look happy to you?? I envy them not. Their fans elevate them to near godlike status. If they go to the toilet everyone knows about it. What a tragic way to live. All their fame and wealth cannot one day of happiness or true peace buy, and at the end of it all they face death just as the common man.
As Jesus said, What does it profit a man (or woman) to gain the whole world and to lose his soul. Folks, although life seems long, for some ppl live way into their 90’s, we have a relatively short time to decide where we are going to spend an eternity. That my friends is the absolutely most important decision one can make in their lifetime.
So the choice is yours, you can accept Christ as your Lord and Saviour or not but at the end of it all, all your fame, popularity, wealth and good looks are not going to do one damn bit of good on judgement day, for it is appointed unto ALL men to die and then face judgement.
My question to you is this. Can you stand on that appointed day or will you fall??

    Love and Peace

Hi Patricia, I agree with what you’ve said. I like Hyundai too, I think they are a good car company. I wonder what will happen to the U.S. car makers: General Motors, Chrysler and Ford? Ten years from now, will they still be around?

I just read this article in the Jamaica Observer. It looks like the cheaper cars have seen a significant decline in sales, while “high end” vehicle sales are still doing well. Vehicles that cost $7 million or more, like the BMW X6 and Range Rover, are selling well.

High-end cars still in demand while cheaper car sales drop 30%

When car sales were running hot up to mid 2007..every thing was cook an’ curry. When you have so much inventory sitting around it means you were not lookig ahead locally and internationally, and planning accordingly.

From 2006 Kia sales in my neck of the woods and within the states were steadily growing because people wanted affordable, reliable, fuel efficient vehicles. On the otherhand, sales of high end vehicles were declining. During that time what was happening in JA?…”run wid it, an’ when wi reach..we will correc’ it”.

Anyway, the govt’s current interest rate strategy is futile and will yeild no positively sustainable results.LattiB cant keep doing the same thing and expect different results.

By the way Merc V..props to Hyundai though they have done a great job of revamping their designs and improving the overall quality of their vehicles. Though I perhaps wouldn’t buy one, the Genesis is worth all the praise and attention its been getting.

You know, we are living in some very trying times, not just here in Jamaica but literally worldwide. Crime, violence, financial woes, famine, wars and rumours of wars. Everywhere you look injustice seems rampant. The times appear to be perilous.

This morning I have felt the urging to remind you that GOD is still GOD. HE is in complete, total and absolute control. He is still the Creator and Master of the universe. He IS God and God ALONE. No matter what circumstance you are facing in life right now He is still worthy of ALL praise because HE IS GOD.

He alone is worthy of ALL praise, worship, honour, glory, power, wisdom and might.

I’ll let you in on a little secret that I discovered, even though it can be plainly found in the Bible its something that we often overlook. No matter what your circumstance is in life, whether it be a rocky marriage, family problems, lack of money, health issues, joblessness, depression, business problems, work problems, you name it, JUST WORSHIP HIM.

It is in your worship of Him that His peace begins to surround you, His joy, His calm emanates from you no matter what battle you are currently going through. It is in Worship of him that you start to get your deliverance. It is in our worship of God that we start to step into a deeper relationship with Him. It is in our worship of God that we begin to get an understanding of WHO HE IS.

Hey I know its hard, I’ve been there, I am there. When things aren’t going right, the last thing you feel like doing is worshiping, after all, its easier to sit around and look at your circumstance and mope. But take it from me, if you are at that place, force yourself to just find a quiet place and to just start talking to God and telling Him how wonderful He is, how awesome He is, before long it will just start to come up from your inner man, before long you will start to love God more and more, before long you will be telling Him how much you love Him. Before long, you will begin to feel His peace, joy and love.

God promises us that He INHABITS the praises of His people. When you begin to walk in worship, beginning to give thanks in ALL circumstance (whether good or bad), He begins to inhabit that praise and worship. You begin to sense Him working in your life. You begin to sense a RELATIONSHIP. You begin to actually yearn for this peace that comes only from Him and eventually you will find that worship starts to become second nature to you. You will find that when you dont worship that the day just doesnt seem to be right, that something is missing and you cant pinpoint it but you just dont feel at peace.

My friends I know what I am talking about and I would never ever lead you astray. I have been through many struggles like many of you. Right now I have twenty years of savings tied up in Olint, business isnt what it used to be, one child is readying up for university, so I know what its like, but I will tell you this. Amidst ALL of this adversity, trials, tribulation, tests, troubles and woes, I have ABSOLUTE peace, joy beyond comprehension. Indescribable. It surpasses understanding. I didnt step into this peace until I started to worship God for WHO HE IS. Not out of a desire to “get” stuff or because its some law or something. I just realized that He is GOD and that no matter what I am going through, He is deserving of all praise just because HE IS GOD. Folks there is nothing better than this peace and to top it off you just love Him more, and the more you love Him the more you start seeing Him for who He is. Awesome Mighty God Jehova. Abba Father.

Folks, this mighty God, this Creator of the universe, this Master of all things desires a closer relationship with all of us. I urge you to step out into a life of worship. You will never regret it. Further to this, when you worship, the scriptures start to come alive.
You begin to understand that HE is the GOD of yesterday, today and tomorrow, He is unchanging. That HE loves you with an EVERLASTING LOVE. That He is no respecter of persons, He loves each one of us equally and holds none in a higher esteem than another. That ABSOLUTELY NO ONE, NOTHING, no plot of man, no wile of the Devil can pluck you from His hand!!

People, in these terrible times, our only hope is God. Right now stepping into a deeper relationship with God should be our number one priority in life for without Him we are but dust, chaffe which the wind bloweth away. He is calling us into a deeper walk with Him, the times are only going to get worse, where will our help come from? Our help cometh from the Lord, but you have to be in that relationship to benefit from His help, I dont mean to sound presumptuous, but if we dont pay Him any mind why should He with us? I dare you to step up to the plate, give the Lord His due and enter into His joy. You will never ever regret it.

Now here are some things I would like you think about. The Bible is said to be the Word of God. also known as the Living word. So it stands to reason that NO lie can be found therein. It goes on to say that GOD is the CREATOR of the Universe and ALL therein. It says He is unchanging. It says that Heaven and earth shall pass away but His Word ENDURES forever. By His word all was created.

It says that this GOD is unchanging and that He loves you with an everlasting love. It says that He performed miracles. that he parted the Red Sea, brought forth water from a rock, caused walls to tumble at the sound of a shout, caused shackles to open and prison doors to jar loose upon the praise of His people, caused absolute terror upon Egypt, rained down manna from heaven and many many more. He truly is an awesome God.

Jesus says to believe and dont doubt. I dare you to worship God, take the limits of belief off of Him that he is able to bring His promises to you to fruition in your life. I dare you to believe that He is still a miracle working God because after all, His word declares that HE is unchanging, not my word. I dare you to start seeing Him as He is. I dare you to love Him for WHO HE is. Paul calls us to walk by faith and not by sight. No matter what your circumstance is, believe God that He is well able to deliver you from it. It may take five minutes, five months or five years, but you MUST remain STEADFAST and have faith. Take your eyes off the bigness of your circumstance and look at the BIGNESS of your God. Look beyond the circumstance and look at Him, trust Him to bring you THROUGH it. After all, the psalmist says “Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, THOU ART WITH ME!!!!!”

My friends, Be still and know that HE IS GOD.

Have an absolutely blessed weekend and remember, amidst all circumstance, give thanks.
    Much Love in Christ

Good Morning Folks, I do hope you are all blessed and keeping well. I am going to show you how God works all things out for good for those who love the Lord. I’m going to show you how He used the loss of a cellphone to avert sheer tragedy.

My brother just came back from a month of overdue vacation in Central America. He is an avid fisherman and used the opportunity to do some sport fishing on both the Pacific and Atlantic sides of Panama and Nicaragua. He would go off the beaten track to the rural fishing villages far from civilization and go out with the local fishermen. Needless to say on one of the trips his cellphone fell into the drink. All his contact info was lost, he only committed a few numbers to memory, mine included.

Now, for the last few years, my brother and I together lease a property near Dunns River with two very old cottages on it. A little piece of paradise, very tranquil by the sea. A place where I always feel a little closer to God and His creation, where you can lock out the cares of this world. Now I was struggling with the idea of having to give it up and pull out of the lease. Due to financial constraints it has become more and more difficult to find the funds for the monthly lease much less the upkeep and utility bills. It really was an extravagance that was becoming harder to afford. After all, Olint returns used to carry the lease so it never used to be a sweat. We all know what happened there. Its been a real tug of war in my mind. Last week I made up my mind to give it up, this week I was trying to find a way if there was anyway to keep it for the duration of the lease until it expired later this year.

Fast forward to yesterday. Now my sister and her husband are here visiting from the states and were staying at the cottage, my mother went down with them. Yesterday my sis calls me and says she wants to go to the JazzFest in Montego Bay. I told her to make sure and leave early because traffic was more than likely to be very heavy. Shortly thereafter my Mum called me to tell me that she was just going to jam in Ochi and give my sis some space, I told her no, go to jazzfest and go enjoy yourself, live a little, afterall you dont get out much. Sis and mum heeded my advice. So they all haul off to Montego Bay early.
My son was headed down to the cottage also with some friends, for some reason, every which way he turned to leave Kingston early he got hindered, which is unusual because they usually try to leave early afternoon to beat the Friday evening traffic.

Last night at seven thirty my brother called me urgently (remember-new phone, no contact numbers), he just got word from the caretaker at the cottages that gunmen came down there and raped her neice, they told the niece that it was not she that they came for but the people staying at the cottage (my sister). He asked me to call my sis in Mobay and tell her not to go back to the cottages. He did not know my son was on his way there. It was unsure if the gunmen were still there, details were very sketchy.

I called my son immediately to turn around and come back home. By the Grace of God I caught him five minutes away from the cottages. I called my sis but she had already gotten wind of the situation from the caretaker, I made other arrangements for accommodations for her in Ochi and by Gods Grace again, I secured a two bedroom for less than fifty U.S. dollars per night ( a miracle in itself for three adults ).

Now I am going to show you point by point how I saw God’s hand at work in this.

    1. If my brother had his original phone, he would not have called me. He would have dealt with the situation and let me know the details after the fact. That being so, my son and seven friends might very well have walked into a very nasty situation. Gods Providence

    2. My sis generally would never call me to ask what time to leave for an event. My mum normally would never have called me to tell me that she would not be going with sis, after all its a trivial matter. What prompted sis to go to jazzfest, because last we spoke she just wanted to chill. What prompted them to call?? Gods Providence

    3. We were all down there last weekend, wife, kids, everybody, no fire arm holders, no defense. It could have happened then. God’s Providence

    4. Why was my son hindered from leaving Kingston early? If he left when he wanted to, he definately would have been there when the gunmen came in. God’s Providence

    5. God’s Providence has also shown me that perhaps it would be a prudent time to give up the lease averting deeper financial hardship.

Folks I am convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that if I was a heathen blasphemer and not a God worshiper, if I didnt keep my heart and my hands clean, God would not have moved on my behalf and turned around what would have been a tragic situation. I urge you all, I have found that the relationship deepens with God in worship of Him and Him alone in your little private prayer place. Unadulterated, unhindered, open, out loud worship. Thats all He wants from you. Please pray for the caretakers niece and that the perpetrators of this heinous act will be brought to justice swiftly and will bare the FULL brunt of their actions.

To God be ALL the Glory, Honour, Blessings, Power, Wisdom and Might.
    Love and Peace

Well, concerning your blog name, what little I know is that “SIRACH” is the name of a book written by a scribe named Ben Sira in or around 200 BC. The book is also known as The Proverbs of Ben Sira. Thats about the extent of my knowledge of it. I am not sure if it is a compilation of some of the books of the prophets, I’d have to do some research.

Hey Pat very good article but with flaws. Te US is in economic turmoil yes, albeit, along with the rest of the World. They had to close some of the markets in Asia, Russia and Brazil yesterday after they had fallen over ten percent. The US Markets followed with a very large drop only to recover some in the last hour.

Back to the article by Mr. Burns. One of his points was the ‘weak’ US dollar this has been the stronges the US dollar has been against the Euro in months. In the next three months we are not sure what is going to happen because of the Bailout by the Feds. There are a lot of people who do not understand what the bailout really means. Some felt that the Fedes would sign the Bailout into Law and then everything would be fine again. It will take months before this money actually comes into play. We talk about “Due Dilligence”, DD, all the time. The Feds have to do their DD and see which Bad Debts they will be taking over. They have to make sure its done in such a way that it does not hurt the institution that they will be funding and also that the Tax payers will benefit in the end. This will take a couple of months still.

Therefore we will keep on seeing a stronger dollar, oil price will remain low, Wall Street will remain Volatile and there will still be ways to make money if we Manage our Portfolios carefully. In 1999 when things were very Volatile in the Tech Sector. After having a couple of losses I put my Money that i had in the Market into a Money Market Account and let it sit there. You do not make a lot as far as interest but for safekeeping it was Great. it better sometimes to Sit on the Sidelines because you are not Risking anything.

Remember the Gambler’s Mentality, “You Gotta Know When To Hold Them, Know When to Fold Them, Know When to Run”.

Didn’t a Great Man Say, “He Who Fights and Run Away, Lives to Fight Another Day”?

Hope All is Well with Everyone. We Hope and Pray that this will all End Soon.

Patricia and RedP – I agree with you both. We (the church) have failed miserably on so many fronts. We have failed to actively engage through prayer, we have failed to preach the word of God, not only from the pulpit, but through the lives that we live and we have failed to be Christ’s hands and feet to those around us. The good news is that any major revival starts with a personal revival….we can start this battle there.

  32. RedP said

    Hey Patricia how you?

Unfortunately I have to agree with you. But further I have to say that the church as a whole body has failed this country miserably since independence.

I feel that failure stems from lack of knowledge in the church (My people die for lack of knowledge), the serving of self interest and ego, and not being sensitive to God’s leading and will.

The CHURCH (Greek root word EKLESIA meaning government or counsel) does not understand the authority that it has been given by Christ. The church is to be His government on earth praying His will to the earth. He has stated that the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. The original Greek meaning for gates here is “COUNCILS”.

Christ has given the CHURCH (government) authority to do His will and the GATES (councils) of hell shall not prevail against it. The Apostle Paul says “We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, rulers of darkness of this world and against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

What is unfolding as you see is a spiritual battle. Nothing more nothing less. If the church (meaning believers) as a body had been doing what they were called to do from the very onset this would be a different country. Instead they get caught up in religion, back biting, pride and arrogance. Getting caught up in extra biblical teaching and extravagance and showmanship. Professing a form of Godliness but not knowing the power there of. What gwaan a foreign gwaan here too.

I can tell you that there are some churches that have started galvanizing together, burdened very deeply for the country and the state its in. These churches are repenting for the sins of the nation, humbling themselves and seeking God’s leading and direction. The desire being ultimately that revival will come to this country and we make a turn for the better.

    Love and Peace Pat

What is the government doing? How does the decent law abiding majority take back this beautiful country??

Sirach – I’d love if you would elaborate on the distinction you are making between Christians and Churchgoers.

I know I was a churchgoer before I became a Christian, putting my trust in Christ.

As a Christian, I have discovered that you can have joy despite your circumstance.
As a Christian, I know that prayer makes a difference.
As a Christian, I realize now that I am FAR from a good person, and that God not only sees my action but my heart.
As a Christian, I know that Christ’s sacrifice on the cross CAN cover ALL my sins, if I accept his free gift.
As a Christian, I know that He has changed my nature. He gives me the grace, the strength and the freedom to say NO to sin. I no longer glory in sin. Note however that I am a work in progress. I still sin, I am often disobedient, but I have a changed atttitude.
As a Christian, I know that if I confess my sins, He is faithul to forgive me and cleanse me of them.
As a Christian, I know that Christ’s perfection is imputed to me.
As a Christian, I know that He will finish the work He started in me.

Do you fall in either category (churchgoer/Christian)?

I must say RedP that I neva eat so much fry food until I move to this country. The Japanese fry EVERYTHING and I do mean everything, from pork to beef to vegetable and everything that crawl in the sea. And they drink frightening amounts of alcohol, the ladies too, dem likkle but dem talawa when it comes to the drinking.
Alcohol here is quite cheap and easier to get compared to the west. I mean if you want a beer (or cigarette for that matter) you can stop at any one of the zillion vending machines and get it, easy and breezy, no fuss and no ID (yes that means anybody can buy cigs and beer from these machines even high school kids).
So there you have it, the country that is purported to having one of the longest life span and healthiest diets in the world is overflowing with fried food and alcohol. So could it really be English that is doing us over and sending us to our graves early??? hmm it is worth exploring..

A little levity for the #4 Bus crew. God bless you all.

I found a new doctor, and asked him the following questions during my last visit-here was his answers
Q: I’ve heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that’s it . . . Don’t waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that’s like saying you can extend the life of yourcar by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.
Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit , so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!
Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat – your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can’t think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain…Good!
Q: Aren’t fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU’RE NOT LISTENING!!! . . . . Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they’re permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?
Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.
Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It’s the best feel-good food around!
Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.
Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.
    And remember:
‘Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways – Chardonnay in one hand – chocolate in the other – body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ‘WOO HOO, What a Ride!’
    AND . . . .
For those of you who watch what you eat, here’s the final word on nutrition and health. It’s a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.
    1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
    2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
    3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
    4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
    5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
    CONCLUSION:
Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

    Yellow Fever Outbreak!

It has been reported that there has been a terrible outbreak of Yellow Fever (disambiguation). This particular strain is sometimes known as the American Plague. The outbreak started in Beijing, the Bird’s Nest Olympic stadium to be exact, however sources have linked its origin to the tiny island of Jamaica in the Caribbean Sea.

The virus seems to have been transmitted by a set of Jamaican athletes participating in the Beijing Olympics in particular one by the name of Usain Bolt. At first the virus infected 91,000 people a few days ago but it is a quickly spread to millions of persons worldwide. The symptoms include:

    · Spontaneous & uncontrollable dancing fits especially Nuh Linga & Gully Creeper

    · The need to wear yellow clothing & wave Jamaican flags

    · Screaming uncontrollably at your TV

    · Shock, awe & speechlessness

Many victims have become crazed and can be seen running on the streets all over Jamaica acting like they have just won a 100m race at the Olympics in 9.69 seconds.

Although most victims suffer from these symptoms it does seem to have different effects on some persons in particular Americans, these include:

    · Badmind

    · Grudgefulness

    · Envy

    · A general uncontrollable hating of all things Jamaican

Additionally, American victims seem to be unable to grasp many things such as batons and the fact that people can actually run fast without performance enhancing drugs.

So far scientists have been unable to find a cure and it is feared that the entire world will be infected in a matter of days. The long term prognosis is not good either, as it is feared that there is another generation of Jamaican athletes that have this deadly virus in their system and will be unleashing it on the world in even more record doses.

The only hope anybody has, to remain immune, is to stop watching television (except for NBC), stay off the internet and move as far away from civilized, rational humans as they can, in some remote underdeveloped, mentally retarded place such as the USA.

    OFFICIAL STATEMENT:

In a joint statement issued by the presidents of the World Anti-Doping Agency, International
Olympic Committee (IOC), and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), the
following foods have been placed on the list of banned substances issued by WADA: yam, green
bananas, cocoa, dasheen, breadfruit, ackee and saltfish, mackeral run down, turned
cornmeal, Jerked pork and chicken, escovietched fish Malta, Supligen, Milo (said to be the
food drink of Champions), Horlicks and coconut oil. Jamaicans seem to become extremely
athletic on diets with these foods. Coming out of WADA labs, one of the major banned
substances from Jamaica is the Cassava root, a high fibre, high starch tuber root eaten in
Jamaica. It has properties which are said to enhance endurance and cause muscle fibres to twitch faster. This comes after extensive study of the diets of the Jamaican athletes which took part in the Beijing 2008 Olympic games. Though natural foods it is felt by WADA that these foods because of their unique properties give Jamaican athletes an unfair advantage. High
concentrations of carbohydrates and other naturally occurring substances are said to be
mimicking the effects of Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs). Some foods have been noted to
in particular cause an unusual increase in the male hormone testosterone. As such WADA has
seen it fit to add these foods to the list of banned substances. Given the sensitivity of this issue, Jamaican athletes participating in the current Olympic games underway in Beijing have not been banned but must submit to these new restrictions within the next two years. Two substances which have been discovered in testing of the Jamaican foods are “yamstenine”, a yam derivative and “cocosterone”, a derivative of the coco plant. These substances have been found to mimic nandrolone and the blood booster EPO, hence the preliminary banning of the substances
themselves and the banning of the foods they derive from.

This ruling will also affect other Caribbean and some African countries which share similar diets as Jamaicans.

This is from what Opportunity post above and is interesting

“A commission panel heard evidence from 26 clients, whom it says Thow convinced to invest $8.7-million primarily in construction loans and shares of a Jamaican bank, advising some to sell their mutual funds and to mortgage their homes to raise the money to do so. The panel found neither the construction loans nor the shares existed. “The clients lost most or all of their money,” it determined.

The Jamaican bank in question was the National Commercial Bank Jamaica, owned by AIC and/or Michael Lee Chin (AIC’s largest shareholder.) Thow promoted the bank because of his “apparent close relationship with Michael Lee Chin,” the commisson said. Thow was fined $6-million and banned from participating in B. C.’s capital market”

So even though people complain to MLC’s company Bershire them never do nothing bout the tiefing bwoy Thow and allow him to continue robbing up people..shame shame shame and then they sell off Bershire and leave it up to the new owners to clean up the mess. The article say it is believed THOW living in Jamaica. ANYBODY KNOW HIM?? It look like him and MLC were friends..shame shame shame.

    1. Anyways, oonuh can boycott who oonuh waan fi boycott. It still naw bring back oonuh money. Oonuh jus a tun oonuhself eena poppy show, cause guess what? Any decent bank you chose to put your money in, would operate in the same way to protect its business and comply with the law. 2 How can NCB be responsible for problems OLINT has with regulators – local and foreign, or other banks and brokers? NCB isn’t responsible for poor accounting practice at OLINT. NCB isn’t responsible for OLINT’s lack or transparency. NCB isn’t responsible for OLINT’s lack of compliance with regulators – local and foreign. NCB isn’t responsible for OLINT’s poor customer service and lack of communication. NCB isn’t responsible for the decision of some people to foolishly place their life’s savings, other people’s money, their house money, their school money, their medial bill money etc. in a risky investment scheme. NCB isn’t responsible for the failure of OLINT investors to properly assess the true extent of risk they face when investing in an unregulated investment scheme which refuses to be transparent

    3. and last but not least this is from our good friend Jay :: Cashplus was a scam, Olint is a scam.
What did NCB have to do with their failure.
I am glad NCB has been so hard on them and my only problem is NCB took to long to close their accounts.
If they had moved earlier, maybe more people would have been saved from these scammers.
Stop blaming NCB for the failure of these AIS,as they were all headed for failure sooner or later.
MLC has done very well with his investment in NCB, what is so wrong with that. At least he his making his money honestly and not promising a “pie in the sky” only to have the pie falling in your face and losing your “shirt” as all these scammers did.
Why are people not laying the blame on the AIS operators which have already been proven to be running ponzi operations.
NCB has contributed significantly to Jamaica and I say forward march NCB. – end of quote

For some reason I find it hard to believe that all these detractors who claim to have absolutely no money invested in these clubs, spend so much of their time and energy meddling into a battle that has not a darn thing to do with them. If they have nothing vested then what is all the barking about???? Let those of us who lost money in the Lint, not so wise, Md etc grieve in peace. If they have no money to lose and they are crying like little ‘kittens’ then those of us who lost any part of our shirts have a right to bite, and bite hard, even at NCB.

It’s difficult to say, I am not a quantity surveyor. It all depends on the design of the house. If its a 2 story it will use different schedule steel in the decking for beams, columns etc. Different schedules (thickness) have different amounts per ton. So intrinsically if I was able to look at the plan I could give you an accurate figure, cuz i can read a steel schedule on plan. Otherwise its difficult to say. a ranch style house ( single story) will use much less steel unless of course you are going to put a concrete roof.

LotsOfmoney is in construction, he could probably give you a basic figure based on yardage, but as I say its difficult to peg without the plans. I think him need the wuk too, work out supm wid him!! :)

Good Morning blog friends!! Hope all is well. Heres some discouraging facts just to make oonu feel better.

    1. Over 10 mil. worth of goods stolen from major hardware distributors via fraudulent MANAGERS cheques this year.

    2. In April 20 tons of steel were stolen from Arc Systems via fraudulent Managers cheque.

    3. Yesterday delivery truck hijacked right outside Arc Systems gate loaded with 35 tons of steel, that alone worth 3.5 mil.

    4. Yesterday the guy that delivers cement to me, his truck was hijacked in Ewarton with 1000 bags of cement on it. Empty truck found in Old Harbour. Second time this has happened to him.

5.(Rumour) Last year over a period of time over 70 mil worth of steel went missing somewhere in between wharf and Tankweld metals, which is really surprising cuz they have whole heap of checks and balances and they didnt catch up on it until way later.

I can only conclude that somebody big must be behind all these thefts, no small man can unload dem deh breed of goods and hide it so easy and get market for it.

    6. This morning at 7am Shallman Scott, former mayor of Mobay, venerable unbiased political analyst/commentator was shot while jogging. Dont know his condition. This happened in an upscale community btw.

So there you go, we are not the only ones with problems. I hope this makes you guys feel better.

I found a very interesting article on “The Shark Investor” investment blog. It’s titled “10 Reasons Not to Trade Forex.” You can read the complete article here:

    http://sharkinvestor.com/2008/06/10/10-reasons-not-to-trade-forex/#comment-601

Reason number 3 is especially important. It says: “Trading Forex does not add wealth to the world.” That is true, trading on the forex market does not create wealth for the world. If you are a forex trader and you are profitable, it means that you have made money off of other forex traders. If you have lost money trading, it means that other traders have made money. This is what many call a zero-sum game. If you want to become rich someday, you have to learn how to create wealth.

looking at what you have written so far I think you would be at LEAST a level 3. level 4 is only 100 characters and I took it after studying for only 5 months on my own so it would be too easy for you I think. I am not sure how good your reading is but if you want to challenge level 2, you need to have reading down pat. So far I have passed level 2 but my head not so good so I thought it was difficult(めちゃくちゃ難しかった). If you decide to take it I can recommend materials. 頑張ってね・

Pat, this meeting was not in Hokkaida. The real deal which is the main G8 summit will be in Hokkaido way to the north in July. In the past 2 weeks preliminary meetings were held seperately for the ministers of Finance, Defense, Energy and other ministers 4 of which were in my area Kansai, 1 in Tokyo, 1 in Hokkaido etc. Condoleeza and her clan of other foreign monisters were having their meeting Thursday and yesterday in Kansai.

Hokkaido is right below the tip of Russia mi luv, it has Siberian weather so i couldn’t survive there. This tropical bird only visit there in mid summer when I only need a light jacket.lol

As I step out of my apt. braps babylon. 1st thing cross mi mind, rahtid I wonder if they know about my likkle splif. Mi staat fret. Walk a few steps more, and braps more bablyon. It was then I realized that there is a helicopter circling up above. Mi really start fret now, all of this for one stick a w**d??? Turn the corner, mi jaw drop, police, police car, armoured vehicles. Mi no really know how fi ask a police man politely in the local language if this is a drug bust so wid mi heart inna mi mout mi tek time walk gywaan. Babsy kisiloo it hit. No body no bizniz wid me an mi one stick of splif, the G8 preliminary meetings are here. The monisters (ministers) are staying at the Hotel 1 minute from my house hence babylon was at my doorsteps and crawling everywhere. Couldn’t figure out why the monisters were staying at such a high profile hotel in the middle of town far from the conference centre, when they are other low-keyed luxury hotels in other parts where a terrorist would be sure to stand out.

While most cities would be happy to have this kind of high profile meeting, and excitement, not this one. It is a big inconvenience, everybody complaining under their breath. The helicopter flying over the hotel is noisy, having police everywhere is scary especially for children, the park is closed and they couldn’t walk their dog, riding bicycle is difficult because police stand on the sidewalk and it is difficult to pass, this kind of high security is for Western countries, everybody I ask have some complaint. This city is simple and we only like happy excitement such as festivals and marathons not serious excitement that put the city under seige. According to the old ladies I spoke with, ‘the air is heavy today’.
    Ohhmmm.

A woman is at home when she hears someone knock at the
door. She goes to the door and opens the door to see a man standing there. He asks the lady “Do you have a vagina”.
She slams the door in disgust.
    > >
The next morning she hears a knock at the door and it is the same man and he asks the same question of the woman “Do you have a vagina”. She slams the door again.

Later that night when her husband gets home she tells him what has happened for the last two days.
The husband tells the wife in a loving and concerned voice “Honey I am taking tomorrow off to be home
just in case this guy shows up again”.

The next morning they hear a knock at the door and both run for the door.
    > >The husband says to the wife in a whispered voice
    > >”Honey, I’m going to hide behind the door and listen and if it is the same guy I want you to answer yes to the question because I want to see where he is going with it”.

She nods yes to her husband and opens the door.
Sure enough the same fellow is standing there and asks the same
    question.
“Do you have vagina”….”Yes” she says
    The man replies..

“Good! Would you mind telling your husband to leave my wife’s alone
    and start using yours ?

This hilarious composition was written by a child: “A grandmother is a lady who has no children of her own. She likes other people’s little girls and boys. A grandfather is a man grandmother.

He goes for walks with boys; they talk about fishing and stuff like that. Grandmothers dont have anything to do except to be there. They are so old that they shouldn’t play hard or run.

it is enough if they drive us to the store where the pretend horse is, and have lots of money ready; or if they take us for walks, they slow down for things like pretty leaves and caterpillars. they should never say ‘hurry up.’

usually grandmothers are fat, but not too fat to tie your shoes. they wear glasses and funny underwear. they can take their teeth and gums off. grandmothers dont have to be smart, only answer questions like, ‘why isnt god married? and ‘how comes dogs chase cats?

grandmothers dont talk baby talk like visitors do, because its hard to understand. when they read to us they dont skip, or mind if it’s the same story over again. everybody should have a grandmother, especially if they dont have a tv, because they are the only grownups who have time.

In no way am I sorry for these shottas, if I had a gun I would feel no way about dropping anyone who want to harm my fam, friends or me. I would not even have to think about it.

What I was alluding to is that it is a shame and endibtment on our society that we have reached the point in our society where you have a lot of ppl with not much of a future to look forward to. Especially seeing where we are coming from. The jewel of the Carribbean.
Cayman was a dependancy on Jamaica. Did you know that? We had men with vision like the great Robert Lightbourne, a captian of industrialising Jamaica. And all of it pissed away by Michael manley. It is more than a crying shame.
We should be Singapore the 2nd, not Haiti #2. It is not the fault of the man in the getto that he is in the position he is in.
I percieve that you are young, with age you will garner more wisdom and look at things a little more differently. Please do not take it as an insult as in no way do I sek to do so, however there is more at play here and more going on behind the scenes than you know about.
Given time, you will begin to learn that it is not all black and white, there is a mighty wide swath of grey area. Catch my drift??

We are instructed by the Lord to pray for the leadership(in all areas of society) of the land, that we (God’s people (believers)), may live peacefully in the land. God’s Word is POWER UNLIMITED.

I am a living testimony to the power of prayer and God’s providence and protection.

Just remember, HE CANNOT LIE, but you HAVE TO (MUST BE) lined up with His Word.

You MUST have ABSOLUTE faith that, HE SAID IT, I (WE) BELIEVE IT, THAT DOES IT.

Think and check, do your due diligence and you will see that I am right.

    Love and Peace my friends.

People die everyday from starvation, disease, etc. I don’t feel sorry for any person in Jamaica’s ghettos or garrison communtities that decide to be a “shotta” and live by the gun. I’m happy when the police and military kill these people! Far more of them need to die!

There are many people who are poor and are decent law abiding people. They don’t join the gangs and become gunmen. So no one…not even you RedP…ask me to have any sympathy for these gunmen!

I know this happens too, unfortuneatly having a gun doesn’t mean the risk (that you’ll be killed) will go down alot. In fact as Razor and RedP pointed out, having a gun can put you in even more danger as gunmen may know you are armed and come to kill you for your gun. However, I would like to be armed and have a gun to defend myself rather than not have one. If I am attacked by a gunman and I don’t have a firearm, what am I going to use to defend myself?

Stress Now Blessed said: “The point I’m trying to make is…they going to kill you/me anyway so why not kill some of them.”

That’s the same thing I’m saying. If you have a gun the gunman may still kill you. But at least you have a gun to defend yourself with and maybe you still die in the firefight, but maybe you’ll kill them too! That means one less gunman in Jamaica!

DI GUNMAN DEM INNA JAMAICA TOO WICKED MAN!!!!

I don’t feel sorry when any of them get killed by the police! I wish the police would kill more of them! They kill men, women, children, even elderly people. Half of the times when the gunmen kill people you can’t even see why they kill them. For example, I’ve heard many stories of gunmen going into a shop and holding it up. They demand money and cellphones from everyone, and the people give them what they have. Now after that, the gunmen shoot up the place, shoot people and then flee. Why? Why shoot people? You rob them, you take all the money that they have…but before you leave you gway kill them? Why kill them?

The gunmen in Jamaica are heartless, merciless killers. I have no sympathy for them when they die violently. I have no sympathy for their families to lose a loved one. I don’t have any tears to shed for these people. These gunmen have decided to live by the gun, to kill numerous innocent people…well, I hope they all get what’s coming to them!

Yu hear mi people, do you hear me…ARM UNO DAM SELVES!!!

Emerging Countries like Jamaica will certainly have its hands full tackling inflation and investor confidence

    …..extracted from the Jamaica Observer

“Fitch Ratings, in its special report, warned of the risks to EM sovereign creditworthiness from rising inflation.
“Rising inflation rather than slowing economies is the principle challenge facing policymakers in emerging economies. Low and stable inflation has underpinned macroeconomic stability and allowed governments to borrow locally rather than incur foreign currency debt in international capital markets. Failure to contain inflationary pressures risks undermining macroeconomic stability and medium-term growth prospects.”

I used to be in the taxi business (Talk about stress). I had 8 vehicles fully licensed as route taxis plying linstead/Spanish Town.
Now in order to be fully compliant it means dealing with 3 govt agencies. Tax office, island Transport Licensing Auth. aka (Fitness Depot), and the Transport Auth.(Head office on maxfield ave. and inspection depot on Lakespen Rd Portmore).
When you change out an old vehicle for a newer one (cuz Drivah seh moto fi drive yuknow an mash up old one!!), You have to-
    1. go tax office, register and lic. new vehicle after getting insurance.
    2. Outfit vehicle to taxi standard ie. insignia, extinguisher, rear seat belts etc.
    3. Go Trans. Auth. with road license for previous vehicle and docmts. for new one, apply for change of vehicle. dem give yuh hole heap a paper.
    4. Carry vehicle to fitness depot to pass inspection, cool, stamp up, criss.
5.carry vehicle to lakespen depot for inspection, braps stamp stamp
6 go back to trans auth head ofice with evryting, they stamp up and send you to tax office to pay for your taxi licence plates.
7 tax off send you back to trans Auth to verify seh yuh get yuh plates
8 road license then issued for new vehicle.
For the uninissuated this prossess takes 1.5 to 2 weeks, for guys like me who made links along the way after a couple years and didnt mind letting off to speed things up could get it done in about 4 days.

To make matters worse, it didnt matter how legal you were, you could be legal all the way up your ass, police would still find a reason to sieze your vehicle, put on wrecker and impound it and after much hassle and nuff dallaz yuh might get it back in a week. I have gotten back vehicles in a day(it helps when you know the Supt or Inspector of police). It was a highly frustrating way to make a living especially taximen are seen as 2nd class citizens and a feeding tree by the traffic police. One time one of my vehicles was barred from entering Span. town bus park because the gateman claimed that the drivah was a battyman. I had to send 5 grand in order for my vehicle to enter unhindered and had to calm my driver down from going for his gun friend dem. That business is all about runnings and if you dont know how to play the game you get leff.

I have digressed, the point I was going to make is that here you have three govt. agencies that you have to deal with and they are all far away from each other. I have allways contended that seeing as the Lakespen depot and the Fitness Depots( 1 in Spanish Town 2 in kingston) are so large. Why not have offices of the Trans Auth and Tax Office there. The 3 agencies are highly intertwined when it comes to licensing vehicles whether it be private or Private/public carrier or public passenger vehicles. The depots have more than enough room to achieve this. But I guess that kind of tinking is too forward/simplistic/efficient for this country.

I’ll tell you this though, the day I came out of the taxi biz my stress level decreased dramatically!!

    More time,

    G”Morning Ppl,
You Know, recently the Jamaica Employers Federation conducted a study and claimed that based on world wide statistics that the average Jamacan employee is 30% productive. I feel that this may be true in some respect but definately not the norm based on some experiences that I have had.

    Case in point:-

Tuesday gone I had occasion to go to the wharf to clear 1 barrel and 1 crate being part of a shipment of personal effects that my mother had sent down as she has returned to JA to live with me and enjoy retirement. Now these two items had been detained previously because they had contained prints of paintings and had to be valued by the Valuation Branch of Customs and were taken to an art gallery then returned to berth 7 at the wharf. Val dept. then called me and told me to come.

Tues at 9 am I went to Val. Dept. beside Marine Police wharf and quickly was handed my documents and told to procede to wharf and go ahead and clear the goods.
I had previously got contact # for the porter at wharf when I was last there so I called him and told him that I was on my way and beg yuh do Clive, tek out di supm dem so me nuh haffi tarry all day. Cool mi boss was his response.

You have to go down to berth 6 if you want to use cr. card Sir.
Berth 6!!! kiss teet. Weh fi do.

Walk 1/4 mile to B6 cashier and give the nice lady the docmts. That will be 27k sir.
I know maam, I am going to use my C card. The machine is down sir I can only take cash.
Bloodfyah!! Pooppa Jeeezaz!! Kiss teet kiss teet big time. Well I cannot blame her she only doin her job. Is not her fault seh technology nah wuk.

End up walking 2 miles (didnt want to lose parking spot) there and back to Sir Leaching bank machine at the NCB (No Class Bank) branch in newport west. That one really hurt cuz me nevah want dat deh man fi get one red cent from me. mih witdraw mi cash an gallang mih way.

Stop at B6 to pay as it was closer to the entranece and on the way to B7. Cashier stamp stamp mi docu dem. Thankyou sir, have a nice day. Thankyou my dear and you have a good day too. Tink seh evryting cool now.

Go up to B7 to same officer, couple more stamp stamp, Alright sir B jus go to gate pass counter, get yuh gate pass then come in with you vehicle an pick up your stuff. Thankyou officer and you have a good day. You too sir.

Step over to gate pass window. Sir B there is an outstanding amt. for storage that you will have to pay. Thats ok my dear just tell me how much. You will have to go down to B6 gate pass section sir as my system is unable to access that info at this time. WHAT THE ***&&^%% A GWAAN YAHSSO!!! Nice lady yuh really mean to tell me seh mi haffi walk all the backside way down to B6 again. Unfornately sir I’m unable to help, you have to go down to B6. By now mi red an mi yeye dem bloodshot. Kiss teet kiss teet kiss teet, **&^^%%$**!!!

Go back to B6 to different cash window that is further down (they dont collect storage at the duty cashier!!). Hello nice lady, I need to pay mi storage fee, how much is it??
    $1040 sir.
I have 1500, no coins, give her the 1500. Sir, I dont have any change. I reach the point of absolute frustration now. Baby luv, hear what, jus keep di change an stamp up mi papah dem PLEASE!!
hold on sir, hold on. I recieve 460 change in coins. Stamp stamp, you can go to gate pass now sir. Thankyou maam. Kiss teet kiss teet.

Go back to gate pass and give docmts. Evryting criss chief?? I ask. yeh man, stamp stamp stamp.
Hands me docmts, go for yuh vehicle sir and collect your goods. Thank God
Go fuh car and drive round to entrance, drive into gate after fending off di truck and other van drivah dem. Stop at security, give him ID and docs. My man check through, look pon lic. plate, scribble scribble stamp, alright sir procede. Drive 75 feet to a nex security, hand the nice lady Id and docs, look look, scribble scribble stamp. tankyuh maam, alright sir.

Drive round to B7 and my man Clive have evryting ready, show gaurdy dem mi docs, check check look look sign sign stamp stamp. Allright chief a you dat. Clive load me up. Give Clive a money and head to the exit.

At the exit. Go over to that container office over there sir, go and give docs, stamp stamp sign sign, allright cheif jus check dat bredda over there in the green shirt. Cool. Go over to greeny, check check, look inna the vehicle stamp sign, alright cheif jus check dat lady security over there, go over, check check sign stamp allright sir you are free to go just hand the papers to the gate man. Drive up to gate man, check sign stamp, hand me back one. Allright cheif all clear.

    Time out 12:45

To top it off I got a flat tyre on Washington blvd. @@##*&**#!!! If a didnt know Jesus a woulda go mad to rahtid!!

My conclusion, it is not the employees that are inefficient, it is the beaurocratic systems that make them ineffifcient.

May you all never have to experience what i went through on that day.

Inflation Update April 2008 (Pan Caribbean Business Eye):

STATISTICAL INSTITUTE OF JAMAICA (STATIN) reported inflation of 21.3% for the 12-month period ending April 2008. This follows a 1.5% rise in prices for the month of April. In contrast to the three previous months, consumers faced a faster pace of inflation in April. The main contributor for this month was ‘Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels’ which recorded a 4.0% jump reflecting record increases in international oil prices.

Prices are expected to continue to rise over the next few months with the Bank of Jamaica forecasting inflation in the range of 5 – 6% for the June quarter. The forecast is based on expectations of continued increases in international commodity prices and the spin-off effects of higher transportation and utility costs. At the current pace, the rate of inflation looks set to surpass the 10% level programmed in the budget for fiscal year 2008/9. This is likely to place further strain on the Government’s ability to contain interest and wage costs.

You are welcome Nanny Patricia! LOL…

There are lots of investments opportunities out there that gives good return…..Just last week I made a little over $100K in real estate in one of the investment foreclosure homes I bought a little over 3 months ago…

So, these days I am busier than usual…Still have my full time job

Buying these foreclosure homes some bloggers would say is capitalizing on others misfortune/depression. (Ronald Regan’s definition..Recession is when your neighbor’s house is in foreclosure, depression is when your house is in foreclosure)

I wonder if they would find away to call buying foreclosure homes ponzi….LOL

I see the other Maroon fighters still fighting the battle…Jamaica, the land of my birth is in real problem now and heading for worst outcome in the future……

…Not talking the criminally inclined, but a future that the youth is no longer enslaved…A future that any poor Jamaican boy can go and beg the government to finance their foreign education like what MLC did from a past government back in the day…..

Now he wants to be the only billionaire and enslaved the people who dare to scrape a dollar and put into the Jamaican banking system….For a person who once beg for college fee…What exactly did he do along the way to earn his millions/billions….

Trusting that Jamaicans will be proactive and removed their money from the depository relationship with such banking institution.

This generation will have to carve their own future and stand up for their rights, other wise all their freedom of choice will be taken away…..
